Ingredients :
Onions/ Ullipaya – 1 cup
Small onions/ Chinna Ullipaya – 1/2 cup
Garlic/ Velluli payalu – 8 pieces (chopped)
Tomato – 3
Coriander leaves/ Kothimeera – 1/4 cup
Curry leaves/ Kariveypaku – few
Red gram/ Thuvaram Paruppu/ Kandhi pappu – 1 cup
Boiled rice/ Uppudu Biyyam – 1 Tbs
Red chili’s/ Yendu Mirapakayalu
Coriander/ Dhaniyalu
Mustard/ Avalu
Cumin seeds/ Jeelakarra
Ani seeds/ Sombu
Fenugreek/ Venthayam/ Menthulu
Kasa Kasa – 1 Ts
Tamarind juice/ Chintha pandu juice – 2 Tbs
Coconut/ Kobbari kaya – 4 small pieces
Oil
Method :
1. Add oil to the pan and heat it, then add mustard, curry leaves, fenugreek, ani seeds and fry them
2. Now add onions, garlic, tomato’s, fry well, add tamarind juice and mix well
3. Grind cumin seeds, red chilli’s, corriander, ani seeds, kasa kasa, boiled rice (fry it without oil), coconut pieces, and pour little water
4. Add the grinded paste to the curry, add some salt, pour water, mix well and close the lid for the curry to boil
5. Grind red gram (soak the gram before for 2 hrs), red chilli’s, ani seeds, cumin seeds, salt and pour little water
6. Add onions, garlic, coconut pieces, corriander leaves to the grinded paste
7. Make small balls from the above mixed paste and steam cook for 10 minutes
8. Add these steam cooked balls (kola unta) to the curry, let it boil for 3 minutes and the recipe is ready
