Garlic Powder Rice Recipe | Poondu Podi Sadam Recipe

Ingredients : (For making the garlic powder recipe)

1. Red Gram/ Thoor Dal/ Thuvaram Paruppu – 1 cup

2. Dried Red Chili’s/ Kaaintha Milagai – 5/6

3. Garlic Cloves / Poondu – 10 -12 pieces

4. Salt


Method :

1. Dry roast all the above ingredients mentioned like red gram, dried red chili’s and garlic cloves


2. Add the roasted ingredients and salt to a blender, make a fine powder, the garlic powder for mixing in rice is now ready


Ingredients : (For making the garlic powder rice recipe)

1. Cooked Rice/ Vekavaitha Arisi – 2 cups

2. Onion / Vengayam – 1 (cut into long slender pieces)

3. Green Chili’s/ Pachai Milagai – 2

4.  Garlic Powder (above prepared)

5. Coriander Powder/ Dhania Thool – 1/2 tbs

6. Asafoetida Powder/ Perungaya Podi

7. Salt (already the garlic powder has salt so make sure to add only the amount needed after mixing the rice)

8. Sesame Oil/ Nalla ennai

9. Curry Leaves/ Karuveppilai


Method :


1. Take a pan add oil and heat it, then add onions, green chili’s, curry leaves, mix and fry well


2. Then add coriander powder, asafoetida powder, mix and fry well. When the onions and green chili’s get fried well, add the garlic powder, mix well and lower the flame


3. Now add the cooked rice to the garlic powder masala made above, mix well, switch off the flame, garnish and the recipe is ready

Cooked Rice in tamil is called Vekavaitha Arisi

Onion in tamil is called  Vengayam

Coriander Powder in tamil is called Dhania Thool

Asafoetida Powder in tamil is called Perungaya Podi

Sesame Oil in tamil is called Nalla ennai

Curry Leaves in tamil is called Karuveppilai
