Crispy and Tasty Vazhaipoo Vadai Recipe

Ingredients :

Vazhaipoo / Banana Blossom Florets – remove each florets from banana blossom and soak them in buttermilk for 1/2 hr

1. Split Bengal Gram / Chana Dal / Kadalai Paruppu – 3/4 cups

2. Split Black Gram / Urad Dal / Ulundu – 1/4 cups

3. Raw Rice / Arisi – 2 Tbs

4. Onion / Vengayam – 1 cup

5. Green Chili / Pachai Milagai – 5

6. Ginger and Garlic / Inji and Poondu

7. Curry Leaves / Karuveppilai

8. Cumin Seeds / Seerakam

9. Aniseeds / Sombu

10. Salt

11. Oil / Yennai

 

Method :

1. Soak chana dal, urad dal and rice separately for one hour

2. Now grind all the ingredients like chana dal (retain a few like 1 tbs), urad dal, rice, vazhaipoo (drain the buttermilk), ginger, garlic, aniseed, cumin seeds, green chili’s (retain a few) finely without adding water, the batter must be thick

3. Add onions, chana dal, curry leaves, green chili’s, and salt to the batter, mix them well together

4. Now take a deep pan, add oil and heat it. Then make small flat vada’s out of the batter and fry the vada’s in the oil, the recipe is ready
