Ingredients :
1. Green Moong Dal / Pachai Payaru – 2 cups (soaked for at least 3-4 hrs)
2. Raw Rice – 3 cups (soaked for at least 1 hr)
3. Carrot – 1 cup
4. Onion / Vengayam – 1 cup
5. Green Onion / Vengayathaal / Vengaya thal – 4 chopped
6. Green Chili / Pachai Milagai – 4
7. Grated Coconut / Thuruviya Thengai – 1/2 cup
8. Ginger and Garlic / Inji and Poondu
9. Cashew nuts / Munthiri Paruppu
10. Peanuts / Nila Kadala
11. Dried Red Chili / Kaaintha Milagai – 4/5
12. Cumin Seeds / Seerakam
13. Mustard / Kaduku
14. Aniseeds / Sombu
15. Turmeric Powder / Manjal Thool
16. Coriander Powder / Dhania Thool
17. Sambar Powder
18. Salt
19. Oil / Yennai
20. Ghee
Method :
1. Take a pressure cooker, add oil and ghee, heat it, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and aniseed’s, let it splutter
2. Then add all the ingredients one by one like cashew nuts, peanuts, green chili’s, ginger, garlic, dried red chili’s, sambar powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, saute them well
3. After sauteing the above ingredients add onions, saute it well for 2 minutes, then add green onions, carrots, and grated coconut, saute it well for few minutes
4. Now add soaked green moong dal (by draining the water), mix and saute the ingredients
5. Then add the soaked rice, asafetida (optional), salt and required amount of water, close the lid of the pressure cooker, and wait for 4/5 whistles, serve in serving bowl / plate, garnish with coriander leaves, and the recipe is ready
