Murungai Keerai (Drumstick Leaves) Poriyal Recipe

Ingredients :
1. Drumstick leaves – remove the leaves from the twigs and clean it thoroughly and drain the water
2. Moong Dal / Payatham Paruppu – 1/2 cup soaked
3. Turmeric Powder / Manjal Thool – 1 Ts
4. Asafetida / Hing
5. Shredded Coconut / Thuruviya Thengai – small cube

For Tempering :
1. Cumin Seeds / Seerakam
2. Mustard Seeds / Kaduku
3. Dried Red Chili / Kaaintha Milagai – 2 or 3

 

 

Method :

  1. Take a pan add oil and heat it, then add the tempering ingredients and let it splutter, then add the drumstick leaves, mix it well
  2. Now add the soaked moong dal (strain the water), mix it well, also add turmeric powder, asafetida and salt , saute it well
  3. Then add sufficient amount of water, close the lid and let it cook, finally before switching off the flame add the shredded coconut, mix well and switch off the flame, the recipe is ready
