Butter Chicken is a chicken curry recipe which is made with rich ingredients like cashew nuts, cream, butter and other spices which gives the flavors and right amount of spiciness to the curry, it is a easy and delicious side dish for roti, naan or variety rice items

Ingredients :

Ingredients Required For Making Butter Chicken :

1. Chicken / Kozhi – boneless pieces
2. Onion / Vengayam – 1 big chopped
3. Tomato / Thakkali – 2 chopped
4. Ginger and Garlic / Inji and Poondu – 1 small piece ginger & 5 cloves of garlic
5. Cashew Nuts / Munthiri Paruppu – 10
6. Sauce Mixture – Sugar , Vinegar, Tomato Sauce
7. Kasoori Methi / Dried Methi Leaves – few
8. Cumin Seeds / Seerakam
9. Masala Powders – garam masala powder – 1 Ts, Coriander Powder – 1/2 Ts, Kashmiri Red Chili Powder – 1 Ts
10. Butter
11. Whipped Cream

For Marinating Chicken Ingredients Required Are :

1. Kashmiri Red Chili Powder – 1 Ts
2. Grind To Fine Paste – Ginger – small piece, Garlic – 4 cloves, Green Chili – 1, Thick Yogurt – 1 Tbs

Method :

Method For Making Butter Chicken :

  1. Take a mixing bowl add ingredients mentioned under (marinating chicken), mix it, also add the cut chicken pieces and marinate it for at least 25 to 30 minutes
  2. Once the chicken gets marinated well, Take a pan, add butter and heat it, add the chicken pieces and fry them and set it aside
  3. Then in the same pan, with the remaining butter (left previously on frying the chicken), heat it, add cumin seeds and let it splutter, once they start spluttering, add onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, cashew nuts, saute them well
  4. Once the ingredients gets saute well add masala powder ingredients and the sauce mixture, mix them well, and add them to a mixer grinder, grind it to a fine paste
  5. Now in the same pan, add little butter, heat it, then add the previously grinded curry mixture, add salt and sufficient amount of water, and let the curry cook until you see small bubbles forming on top surface of the curry, then at this point add chicken, mix well, also add the cream, kasoori methi, mix well and let the curry cook on a low flame for few more minutes, garnish with coriander leaves, the Butter Chicken is now ready
