Potato Fry is a spicy and crispy textured side dish, it goes well as a side dish with variety rice items, even roti too, and the urad dal added gives a nice crunchy texture too

Ingredients :

Ingredients Required For Making Potato Fry :

1. Potato / Aloo / Urulai Kizhangu – 4 or 5 chopped to small cube size pieces
2. Onion / Vengayam – 1 cup – chopped
3. Curry Leaves / Karuveppilai – few
4. Garlic Cloves / Poondu – 4 or 5 cloves – chopped
5. Dried Red Chili / Kaaintha Milagai – 3 or 4
6. Cumin Seeds / Seerakam
7. Black Gram / Urad Dal / Ulundu
8. Turmeric Powder / Manjal Thool – 1/2 Ts
9. Coriander Powder / Dhania Thool – 1/2 Ts
10. Red Chili Powder / Milagai Thool – 1 Ts
11. Salt and Oil

Method :

Method For Preparing Potato Fry :

  1. Take a pan, add oil and heat it, add cumin seeds, urad dal, garlic, dried red chili, curry leaves, and let them splutter
  2. Once they start spluttering add onions and saute them well, after sauteing the onions well add potato, mix and saute them well, place a lid and cook the potatoes in its own moisture, mix them in between so that the potatoes don’t get burnt or stick to the base, if required can sprinkle some water too, 
  3. After potatoes get cooked well, add salt, mix well, then also add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, mix well for 1 to 2 minutes, the Potato Fry is now ready
