Plantain Fry is a recipe made with raw banana or plantains by frying them and adding other spices, its a bit spicy side dish and it goes with rice varieties which have mild flavors

Ingredients :

Ingredients Required For Making Plantain Fry :

1. Plantain / Vazhakkai / Aratikaya – 2 chopped thinly – into round shaped pieces
2. Curry Leaves / Karuveppilai – few
3. Mustard Seeds / Kaduku
4. Black Gram / Urad Dal / Ulundu
5. Turmeric Powder / Manjal Thool – 1/2 Ts
6. Coriander Powder / Dhania Thool – 1/2 Ts
7. Red Chili Powder / Milagai Thool – 1 Ts
8. Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 Ts
9. Salt and Oil

Method :

Method For Making Plantain Fry :

  1. Take a pan add oil and heat it, add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves, let it splutter, Once they start spluttering add the plantain pieces, mix and saute them well for 1 to 2 minutes, then place a lid and cook the plantains in its own moisture, you can even sprinkle little water in between and saute them too so they don’t stick to the base and burn
  2. Once the plantains get cooked well, switch off the flame and add the masala powder ingredients like turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder and salt, mix well, the heat in the pan is enough for the masala to blend well, saute them well, the Plantain Fry is ready
