Chilli Idli is a quick and easy to make, yummy, spicy variety of idli recipe, you can make this as a evening snack too with the leftover idlis or make them with fresh batch of cooked idli too

Ingredients :

Ingredients Required For Making Chilli Idli Are :

Idli – cooked idli cut to cube size pieces
1. Onion / Vengayam – 1 chopped to square shape pieces
2. Bell Pepper / Kudai Milagai / Capsicum – 1 cut to square shape pieces
3. Green Chili / Pachai Milagai – 2 chopped
4. Green Onion / Vengayathaal – 4 chopped
5. Curry leaves / Karuveppilai – few
6. Mustard / Kaduku
7. Black Gram / Ulundu / Urad Dal
8. Asafetida / Perungaya Thool
9. Turmeric Powder / Manjal Thool – 1/4 Ts
10. Coriander Powder / Dhania Thool – 1/2 Ts
11. Idli Chilli Powder / Idli Karap Podi – 2 Ts
12. Salt and Oil

Method :

Method For Preparing Chilli Idli :

  1. Take a pan, add oil and heat it, add mustard seeds, black gram, asafetida, and curry leaves, let them splutter, then add all the vegetables, mix and saute them for 2 to 3 minutes
  2. Then add the cut idli pieces, mix and saute them gently without breaking the idli pieces, add salt, mix well, also add the masala powder ingredients like turmeric powder, coriander powder, and idli chili powder, mix well, place a lid and cook it on a low flame for 4 to 5 minutes, then garnish with cilantro, the Chilli Idli is ready
