Ingredients :

 

Ingredients Required For Making Tomato Biryani :

Basmati Rice – 2 cups add 4 cups of water for cooking rice
1. Onion / Venagayam – 1 big chopped
2. Tomato / Thakkali – 2 chopped
3. Green Peas / Pachai Pattani – 1/2 cup
4. Turmeric Powder / Manjal Thool – 1/4 Ts
5. Coriander Powder / Dhania Thool – 1/2 Ts
6. Red Chili Powder / Milagai Thool – 1 Ts
7. Garam Masala Powder – 1/4 Ts
8. Biryani Masala Powder – 1 Ts
9. Cumin Seeds / Seerakam
10. Whole Garam Masala items – Bay Leaves / Brinji Ilai, Star Anise, Cardamom / Elaichi, Cinnamon / Pattai, Cloves /Krambu,
11. Salt 12. Oil and Ghee

Ingredients Required To Grind To A Fine Paste :

1. Ginger and Garlic , Inji and Poondu – one small cube size ginger and 5
cloves of garlic
2. Green Chili / Pachai Milagai – 3 & 3. Thick Yogurt / Thayir – 2 Tbs

 

 

Method :

Method For Making Tomato Biryani :

  1. Take a pressure cooker, add oil and ghee, heat it, then add the whole masala ingredients and cumin seeds, let it splutter, add onion and tomato, saute them well
  2. Now add green peas, mix and saute them well, add salt, mix it
  3. Then add all the masala powder ingredients, mix well, now add the grinded paste, some mint leaves (optional), after mixing all these ingredients together well and the raw flavors of grinded ginger garlic are gone, add rice and also sufficient amount of water, some cilantro too, place the lid and whistle, let it cook, the Tomato Biryani is ready
