Pudalangai Poriyal Recipe | Snake Gourd Stir Fry Recipe


Pudalangai Poriyal is a little spicy and delicious side dish made with snake gourd ie., called as pudalangai in tamil, its a stir fry recipe and goes well with all rice varieties mainly with curd rice it tastes much more yummy/ tasty, the coconut added also gives a nice added flavor to this dish,

Ingredients :

Ingredients Required To Make Pudalangai Poriyal :

1. Snake Gourd / Pudalangai – 2 cut to small lengthwise pieces as shown
2. Onion / Vengayam – 1 cup chopped
3. Green Peas / Pachai Pattani – 1/2 cup
4. Curry Leaves / Karuveppilai – few leaves
5. Grated Coconut / Thuruviya Thengai – 1/2 cup
6. Dried Red Chili / Kaaintha Milagai – 1 or 2
7. Mustard / Kaduku
8. Cumin Seeds / Seerakam
9. Split Bengal Gram / Kadalai Paruppu
7. Black Gram / Ulutham Paruppu
8. Turmeric Powder / Manjal Thool – 1/4 Ts
9. Red Chili Powder / Milagai Thool – 1/2 Ts to 1 Ts according to the spicyness you require
10. Salt & Oil

Method :

Method For Making Pudalangai Poriyal :

  1. Take a pan or kadai, add oil and heat it, add all the spluttering ingredients like mustard, cumin, split bengal gram, black gram and let them splutter
  2. Then add onions mix and saute them well, also add dried red chili and curry leaves, mix well, after sauteing the onions nicely add green peas, saute it well, then add turmeric powder and salt, mix well
  3. Add the snake gourd pieces, mix well also add red chili powder, mix it, add sufficient amount of water, place a lid and cook the snake gourd, once they are cooked well, before removing it from the stove add the grated coconut and mix well, switch off the flame, the Pudalangai Poriyal is now ready
